EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE CENTER/REFERENCE LIBRARIAN
REGINA LIBRARY
(35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Rivier University has a position available for a full time Educational Resource Center/Reference Librarian. The Cho Educational Resource Center (ERC) is a curriculum support library designed to serve the research needs of the University?s education students. The ERC is located in the Benoit Education Center, a facility separate from the main (Regina) Library. The ERC is fully part of the University?s Library system and the Library?s User Services Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all services and daily functions of the ERC such as circulation, reserves, shelving and the like. Assist in developing and administering an operating budget for the ERC. Plan hours of operation for the ERC. Provide reference service to students, faculty, staff, and other ERC and library patrons using the full range of technology aids such as e-mail, chat, texting as well as traditional modes of interaction. Provide classroom library instruction, create and edit LibGuides and participate in the library?s Information Literacy Program. Collect and compile library statistics pertaining to the ERC. Prepare related administrative/ operations reports. In a team setting, edit and revise the ERC and Library web page. Serve as library liaison and collection development specialist for Education faculty and other subject areas as assigned. Assist with selecting database and reference resources. Learn and implement new resources and technologies as they relate to reference and instruction services. Assist with promoting library services, resources and events. Assist in the coordination and development of materials for library events. Keep abreast of current developments and trends in the field, particularly in technology. Attend relevant professional meetings and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: MLS degree. An MLS degree candidate (near completion) may be considered if applicant has sufficient relevant experience. The ability and willingness to support the mission of the University, in all daily activities. Experience working in a library, academic library experience preferred. Skills related to reference and circulation services, including database searching, and experience conducting reference interviews. Some web page editing and design experience, as well as library instruction experience. Strong planning, supervisory and writing skills. Ability to show initiative, prioritize, and complete projects in a timely manner. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred: Advanced web editing skills. Experience with creating and editing LibGuides and online tutorials. Experience working with curriculum-based materials and/or an Education background. Experience providing library instruction in accord with the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards. Some experience with collection development, writing reports, and developing/administering a budget.
